The market price of FPV UAV varies greatly, depending on its configuration, the quality of components, the reliability of manufacturers and the ability of buyers to "strive for" better prices.
Through transparent procedures, you can buy a coded remote control drone or a drone with an indication system, and the price is about 15,000 to 20,000 Grivner. The average price of fiber-optic UAV in Brave1 catalog is 40,000 Grivner.
The price of each case may be different. The quality of management will determine whether the triple increase of government procurement will reduce the price through scale effect, or whether the price will rise due to the hot market demand and chaotic procurement.
According to EP's rough estimation, considering the price and types of FPV UAVs, it may take more than 100 billion Grivner to purchase 4.5 million UAVs. Where does the money come from?
The first source is the budget of the defense procurement agency. In 2025, the Ministry of National Defense plans to allocate 44 billion Grivner for FPV UAVs. As Gleib Kanevski, director of the procurement department of the Ministry of National Defense interviewed by EP, said, this figure will definitely be higher, because the country is looking for ways to accumulate more funds at home to buy these drones.
Some contracts may be funded by western partners. For example, the Netherlands has expressed its willingness to participate in the contract to support Ukrainian drone manufacturers.
The second source is the national budget for special communication services. The agency will allocate 47 billion Grivner in 2025 through the "UAV Army" project. However, this is not only used for FPV drones, but also includes ground robot platforms, "bombers", "reconnaissance planes" and long-range drones, which are expensive.
The third source is the budget of military units. The Ministry of National Defense will directly allocate 2.5 billion Grivner (that is, 30 billion Grivner per year) to each brigade to purchase drones. Another 10 billion Grivner will be transferred by collecting 10% of the military income tax for the use of military units.
